An immersive detective night: how Criminal Investigation works
Board games bring people together. With Criminal Investigation, your game night takes an unexpected turn: you become detectives investigating a mysterious crime together.
With friends or family, immerse yourselves in a story full of puzzles, surprises and new leads. Compare documents, discuss suspects and discover how the pieces fit together.
How the investigation works
Follow the clues in your own order. Start with the introduction, then explore the case file in the way that suits your group.
1. Open your case file
The case file contains documents, clues and photographs. These may include suspects' statements, information about the victim and other investigative materials. The exact contents vary by case.

2. Examine the documents
Read everything carefully. In the Rebecca case, for example, a newspaper report introduces her story. Step by step, you discover the circumstances surrounding her death.
3. Get to know the suspects
Compare their statements. Does the timeline add up? Is anyone contradicting themselves? Why did someone who claims to have nothing to do with the case call the victim so often that day? Discuss your suspicions and look for evidence.
4. Investigate the digital clues
In the Rebecca case, you gain access to a digital phone. It contains information that can advance the investigation:
- Chat conversations
- A photo gallery
- Personal notes
- Search history
- Other clues
5. Reach your conclusion
Compare all the clues and see which theory stands up to the evidence. Investigating together brings fresh insights and surprising discussions. You can also solve a case alone; check each game for its recommended player count and playing time.
